As an artist my goal is to produce works that are pleasurable to the eye, the hand, and the spirit. Working with natural material allows me to explore its own hidden message. By using only wood that would otherwise be sent to a landfill or burn pit I feel that in my small way I am recycling one of our natural resources. Whether I am making something that will be useful such as a bowl or something that is more ‘ fine art’, like a hollow vessel. I hope to achieve a balance. Sometimes I add colors, textures or other materials to enhance the feelings that I hope the piece will reveal, but most of all I hope that my work will bring joy to those that experience them.
